In
some cases destructive testing is needed. Example: I have a tool that I slide under the baseboards to measure the gap between the flooring and vertical obstructions however if the floor has been flooded it is not uncommon that a floor will expand one foot over a distance of 16 feet. If the floor did not "tent" floors have taken walls out. Thus in certain cases it is important that the baseboards are removed so we can see a gap the floors may need immediate action. With moisture we can get mold. I charge to take baseboards off I do not reinstall the baseboards or guarantee that the baseboards and walls will not get damaged. I have several non-destructive moisture meters that will read 2” into concrete and wood moisture meters that read into wood. If we went to Superior court (not small claims) in most cases courts will not accept this type of reading. The wood test is to drive two pins into the wood to get a reading at different depths. The final reading is into the wooden sub floor making sure the moisture difference between the sub-floor and the installed wood is not greater than 4%. Over the phone I will inform you if any destructives test
should to be done. Many customers will not allow destructive testing.
